Yahoo!! Unsafe at Any Speed

Protection for minors in Groups and Chatrooms is a JOKE!

A chat or group service sends out a huge smoke screen "requiring the age be in the profile" They "require" the age and sex to be in profiles of people joining groups. The groups must make sure the members all have profiles showing they are 18+ if the group is an adult group.

Pardon me while i laugh for a few minutes here. Who knows how old the members REALLY are? What prevents a ten year old kid from creating a profile saying he or she is 35? Well the answer is not a single thing. Could Yahoo!! and the others fix it? Of course they could. Its hilarious they way they do things.

Yahoo!! requires minors with profiles to provide a credit card to show who their parents are!! As I understand, a minor is required to get adult sponsership of the parent showing a credit card. No wonder the kids dont create profiles under 16! Now, what if Yahoo!! pulled their head out and required adult pass or a credit card to join adult groups or to get an adult profile id? Well it would be much more difficult for a 13 year old to get an adult profile if they had to produce a valid credit card. They would have to actually steal their parents identity or the identity of an adult who has a credit card accessible to them.

Kids dont belong in chat rooms where adults are talking about sick and twisted fantasies and kinks! In fact, some adults should avoid them as well because they are seriously addicted to porn and the rush they get from violent fantasy that, one would hope, they would not want to really happen to anyone.

Studies have shown that there are adults out here on the internet that are here for the sole purpose of exploiting children on the net. According to their id's some are in the UK or australia. Funny thing is though...all u gotta do is log into yahoo uk and you can get a uk profile just like ur in downtown london even though your in kansas city kansas!

Yahoo!! is not the only one vulnerable here but it is the most often used. Any of the other copy cat sites with profiles can be used by both minors to "explore" and pedophiles to hunt. Is it fair to put our children at risk when they are clearly not old enough to comprehend the danger they are exposing themselves to? I am sick when I hear of what happens to children that are tricked and mistreated, or even killed by pedophiles hunting on the net. What makes me even more sick is the pedos that have no problem telling you what they are doing and its they way they get off.

Next time your in a chat or group and you suspect you are talking to a minor, tell them what you suspect and warn them to get out and come back when they are older. Stop talking to them! Tell them its dangerous out here! You might just be saving their life.

One thing I love to hear though is the stories of the cops nabbing some pedo on the net who thinks they are outsmarting some 13yr old girl or boy only to have cold steel cuffs slapped on their wrist. Now that IS justice.

I know i mention Yahoo!! here but there is one place that is the very most dark and unsafe place on the net and that is IRC (internet relay chat) They have chat rooms out there for the most twisted and sick fantasies including snuffsex. There is NO protection whatsoever for children in IRC. Lets protect the kids. Tell em to get out and dont be afraid to tell them you want them to leave because you care.
